National Information and Communication Technology Training Project

The National Information and Communication Technology Training Project (NICTTP) was implemented over a thirty-five (35) month period from July 1, 2007 to May 31, 2010. It was funded from STABEX 94 reserves a contribution allocation from the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The overall objective of the project was to enhance ICT related skills and the productive capacity of the country’s human capital thus ensuring sustained social and economic growth and development. The specific purpose of the project was to provide internationally accredited and certified training to 1958 Vincentian nationals in a number of training areas which include: International Computer Driving License (ICDL), Certified Internet Web Professional )CIW), Comp TIA A+, PC Fundamentals, Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA).

The main beneficiaries of this project were the existing labour force in both the private and public sectors whose productivity was targeted for increase. The project also catered to the unemployed, the school leavers, the disadvantaged as well as other categories of persons in rural society who wished to pursue careers in ICT related areas.

The three (3) components of the project were:
1. Project Implementation Unit
2.Regulatory Body and Steering Committee
3.Training Administration

All activities under these 3 components were executed.At the close of the project, of the 1958 nationals to be trained the finally tally concluded that  98% of the targeted beneficiaries has been trained and 46% attained the desired certification.
