Small Enterprise Development Unit

As part of the economic diversification thrust a Small Enterprise Development Unit (SEDU) was developed in 2003 with funds from the European Union. Euro 750, 000 was provided to the unit to fund technical support and training to potential and existing entrepreneurs.

There were significant achievements under this initiative funded under STABEX 93. During 2003, two hundred and eighty-three (283) persons were trained bringing a total of 976 individuals trained and 500 entrepreneurs on a full or part time basis. An additional one hundred and twenty-five persons with businesses also benefitted from business counselling and advice. Legislation and policy were also prepared to guide the sector.
