This project, implemented between January and November 2010 was aimed at identifying the energy conservation opportunities in selected Government owned facilities in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).
The overall objective of the project was to identify strategies that will contribute to the energy security of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the global environment through the improvement of energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy in state owned facilities. Indirectly, the project aimed at contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in response to the challenge of climate change.
Walk-through energy audits were performed in 70 facilities having the highest electricity consumption as identified by VINLEC. A detailed inventory of all existing equipment and appliances influencing the electricity use in each facility was performed by the project team. Based on the findings from the energy audits, a list of energy efficiency measures (EEM) were proposed for each building, including project cost, potential savings and simple payback. In order to ensure efficient implementation of recommended EEMs and monitor future performance in terms of reduction of electricity consumption, an Energy management Action Plan (EMAP) which is a Roadmap to implement energy efficiency measures successfully was proposed for all facilities.
The project was executed by Egis Bceom of France.
